Radeon X1800 Xt Drivers For Mac
  1. MacOS X 64 bits driver, Unspecified Mac OSX 64. 0x4174, ATI FireGL T2. 0x7101, ATI Mobility Radeon X1800 XT, M58, RED::HW_ATI_R500.
  2. For a graphics card to work on a Mac, it must have a Mac software drivers and Mac compatible firmware. Since Apple includes the nVidia GeForce driver in Mac OS X, the issue is firmware. It's possible to put both Mac and PC firmware in the same card. ATI did it with one card (Radeon 9600 Pro).

Mr Hatter, I have posted 3 or 4 times this same info regarding ATI cards, and somehow you keep forgetting. You wring your hands daily in anguish over the Apple Store incorrectly reporting that 5770 doesn't work in early machines and then INSIST ON SPEWING YOUR OWN INCORRECT INFO ON OTHER ATI CARDS. Do you not see the irony? ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS!!!!

Download the latest ATI Radeon X1800 XT device drivers (Official and Certified). ATI Radeon X1800 XT drivers updated daily. Download Now.

It is such a simple rule. QUESTION: Which Mac ATI cards work in which Mac Pros? ANSWER: THEY ALL WORK IN ALL OF THEM!!!! The ONLY issue with the X1900 and later Mac Pros is that it will not work in Bootcamp.

One more time: ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS!!!! If some part of that statement is unclear, please let me know and I will try to explain it more clearly.

ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS!!!! Look up 'EBC EFI' if you don't understand this. Mac ATI cards have all been released with EBC EFI, while Nvidia went with EFI32 or EFI64. Such a SIMPLE RULE. ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS!!!! You know it's amazing?

You can have someone like DPArt post his misguided information making claims that: 'ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS!!!!' .when you have someone like Roelandd who is proof positive that it doesn't work - PERIOD!!! But then (someone like myself) comes around and gives him a simple yet detailed solution on how to fix the problem, then the Apple forum moderators remove my post because of certain keywords that are made here that aren't allowed, yet nothing happens to Mr. Smart Guy himself DPArt to remove HIS misguided and incorrrect posts. It's amazing how politically slighted this forum website is. It's all the more reason why I have the particular system that I have (built from scratch with regular PC parts) that is NOT Apple related that actually work for 1/3 the cost than what you would find with a so-called actual Apple product (that is made from the VERY SAME PC PARTS). But because Roelandd's system is flawed like any other system that is older and unfortunately outdated, he is now subject to having to purchase a whole new system and spend an exorbitant amount of money that he doesn't have to when he can build it himself. Roelandd, if this post reaches you then please contact me at the e-mail above so I can be of some ( REAL) help. I run Windows 7 and 8 and built some rather more expensive than even my Mac Pro but I won't put OS X on them! No way, no how. Not even the Mac runs OS X.

I felt ATI had poor products for yrs over the last decade and a couple fans, heat, self-destructs, so I never wanted or touched any and used Nvidia, not that they were fabulous, they are/were not. Just never had a $300 paper weight. 2008 - everyone here wanted to try and run 10.4.11 but buy the ATI 2600XTs, not that those turned out all that well either, and lack of drivers in 10.4. Or that 2008 marked EFI64, or more formal name is Unified EFI 2.x which brought 64-bit compliance. Intel and Microsoft support for 64-bit kernel on EFI/UEFI 2.x systems in Vista SP1 and later for instance.

The 'unsupported' Macs that have trouble installing 64-bit Windows. And I can't for the life of me recall a single user reporting they used X1900 in anything other than 1,1 or 2,1 model. In the past also, you could look up or send someone to AccelerateYourMac though people don't always check and the DB there and reports from folks is still a wealth of upgrade information. Can't even remember what it was I wanted to get done this AM!

That is what being in mid-60s has done. Cooked breakfast. Forgot about it until dinner! Still sitting waiting:-(. I only understood about 65% to 70% of what you were saying; as it seemed a bit misplaced grammtically and not as legible for me to fully understand, but I got the gist of what you were trying to say. I STILL believe that the current system that I have (made from PC PARTS and running OS X Lion 10.7) works just fine and this is what I'm getting off of ONE (Xeon W3680) CPU: Geekbench Score: 18,131 / Cinebench 11.5: OpenGL: 39.79 fps, CPU: 10.70 pts (at 4.2GHz OC'd). And that's up there with any current Dual CPU Mac Pro system out there.

Again, mind you I have ONE CPU competing with DUAL CPU Mac Pro systems out there, so that says a lot. But that's only because I humbled out and had a 'teach me' mindset with all the guys out there that were willing to teach me what to do, and it didn't take long either. As I said before this is very doable and anybody who's got any kind of wherewithal whatsoever to even know how to install RAM on their current Mac Pro system, can put one these systems together by themselves and have a screamin' machine that current and up to date. Then later they can upgrade and change parts at a lesser cost without having to pay top dollar and buy a whole new Mac Pro system for 3 times the price, which is completely ridiculous to begin with in my honest opinion. Then again that marketing strategy seems to really be working for Apple as it always has been from the beginning. R, I just: 1. Took a Mac X1900XT from it's box and installed in my 4,1 Mac Pro (EFI64) 2.

I connected the Power Plug to the logic board 3. I connected a DVI display to the DVI port.

I hit the 'Power' button 5. I watched the screen fire up and work just fine. I can do this all day, I have at least one of every Mac GPU (and a great number of ones not released yet) sitting here. I have a 1,1 and a 4,1 Mac Pro and a fleet of displays to test with. If I say a card works, it isn't because I remember a guy whose brother 'knew someone who saw it work'. When I post facts about Mac Pro GPUs, I do so with 100% positivity due to seeing it myself.

I HATE being wrong, so I just make sure I am right BEFORE I post. If you could not get X1900 to work in Mac Pro, go back to my list, somewhere you didn't get it right. Is it a Mac X1900XT? (PC BIOS ones don't work until flashed) 2. Did you connect the PCIE power plug? Did you connect display?

(is display powered?) 4. Did you hit the power button?

Is your Mac X1900XT up to date? There was an EFI update to these. I am 100% certain that ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS. I will lay a bet on it, I will attach screen shots until I am blue in the face. I am trying to do everyone a favor here and clarify something about which there is a very large amount of FUD.

ALL MAC ATI CARDS WORK IN ALL MAC PROS I get tired of coming on here and seeing self-styled 'experts' giving erroneous 100% wrong 'advice' from a pulpit that gives them the air of authority. (ie, lots of points) People wearing an air of authority have a doubled need to be sure that the advice they give is accurate and helpful. Selling more misinformation down the stream helps nobody.
